My neighbor is running a summer performing arts camp for kids teaching them acting, dancing, art, and singing, etc. (this is in DC). Seems like a great way to get kids involved in something that will give them confidence, teach them about the arts, and keep them busy during the summer. this might be a nice subject for parents looking for something worthwhile for their children during summer...

I have wondered for some time what has happened to some of the victims who survived the attack on the Pentagon but who were badly injured. It would be nice to get an update on how many of them are doing. I wouldn't want to invade their privacy but we heard with horror of gruesome injuries sustained by some in the year after the attack and I would love to know if they are doing better.

I would also like to see more stories on the effort to gain voting rights for citizens of the District. It would be nice to know which regional members of Congress are not just supporting the effort but doing something to help (such as I believe Frank Wolf in VA was) move it along.

I heard a while back that Georgia Avenue was a Business Improvement District - it would be nice to hear a piece on what that means and how it's progressing.

Guess that's it for today. Thanks!

Hello Tess,

Thanks for pitching ! I forwarded your email to Jessica Golloher ,our DC reporter. I also had a lovely chat with the woman who conducts the summer camp for kids. I asked her to bump me as soon as the kids get going, later this month. Also, you are quite right ,we are due for a DC voting rights piece.

Dear Listeners,

How are you holding up in this severe weather? Do you or your neighbors have storm damage? Please check-in and let us know how you are. I am also interested in knowing how your emergency sirens were working if indeed your area has them!

Be Safe,

Lots of stop lights out, saw some trees down, we had a few large limbs down but nothing major between Rockville and Ga. Avenue North...

Thanks Tess. Now since I am a bottomless pit of human need, if you would reach out to your friends to make sure everyone is ok and undamaged I would be grateful . The storm killed a woman in Fairfax County this afternoon. Awful.

Hi Meymo,

I typically take the bus to work, and today both my morning and evening commutes were much more crowded. It was surreal since it seems like this change occurred overnight. All of the sudden there are lines at bus stops that were rarely used.

This afternoon I asked the driver on my bus home if there was a schedule change, and she said no and that more and more people are taking the bus.

I take one of the 30s (30, 32, 34, or 36) from Friendship Heights down Wisconsin Avenue NW to upper Georgetown. Is anybody else experiencing a much more crowded commute? Is this just a bus thing or are Metro cars also filling up more?

Further, is this ridership spike tied to the increasing fuel prices?

It was also weird to see the following article in The Express newspaper today about how high gas prices are helping cause the surge in public transportatio....

Hey Steve,

I love this story but can I get you to talk to one of our reporters on tape? Thats what brings it home. Then we mix and stir with other commuters and transit officials and voila--its a piece! We are all spinning in the tank of high gas prices.

Best,

Meymo
