The Conversation

Well, WAMU has two of em (which I am amazed at but pleased about also). Interfaith Voices and Speaking of Faith. I listen to em both and agree that Speaking of Faith has more production value, but given a choice, I find Interfaith Voices to be a better show with SOF sometimes going off the reservation. What do you think, is there a place on WAMU for religion programs and which do you like best adn why?

I think these religion programs definitely have a space on WAMU. I listen to Speaking of faith because of its diverse array of religions spanning from hinduism to wicca to evangelical christianity. These shows balance the programing out.
I love both programs and thank WAMU for including them, particularly the ability to listen online at myconvenience. I learn a lot from these programs and value the implicit education to respect and appreciate all traditions.
I love Speaking of Faith. I find it so insightful, inspiring and informative. I listen less often to Interfaith Voices, but I'm not sure why. I think it's probably just because I found out about it later and don't tend to be listening at the time when it's on.
Keep "Speaking of Faith" but dump "Interfaith Voices." Krista Tippett has the amazing ability to show her respect for her guests and their views. I find this missing in Interfaith Voices if the guests happen to have conservative Christian theology.
I know what you mean about "Interfaith Voices": there's a level of snark and confrontation with conservative Christians there that doesn't really interest me. I go back and forth on this issue: on one hand, there's a ton of space in the media already for conservative Christian voices, and why shouldn't some media outlet challenge them? On the other, pointless snark and debate aren't what I want to hear on the radio, even though I feel strongly about theology and politics. In the end I probably enjoy Speaking of Faith more because Krista Tippett tends to brings in guests with whom she can have a positive dialogue; if those guests are all on the liberal end of the theological spectrum, that's OK with me.
