The Conversation

In several parts of D.C., residents are upset over plans to put sidewalks on their streets. In one neighborhood, people are taking sides with lawn signs declaring "no to sidewalks" and "yes to sidewalks." (Check out the photos below).

On Thursday, the Kojo Nnamdi Show will talk sidewalks with architect Roger Lewis and D.C. Council Member Mary Cheh. Do you live in a neighborhood that's dealt with this issue? Do you think there are some neighborhoods that should be allowed to maintain a more rural, sidewalk-free environment? Or is this simply a matter of public safety? We'd love to hear your feedback here on the conversation or during the on-air discussion at 12 p.m. Thursday.

Thanks!

Well, I guess you could say that they already do -- through the tax dollars they require them to pay. :)

Tara, often when the city installs a sidewalk they charge the home owners a betterment assessment to pay for the side walk over an dabove theri taxes. If that were me, I would not be too keen on a sidewalk either in these tough times.
