The Conversation

It would be great if WAMU carried Democracy Now during prime time.

Check out this interview with John Pilger (born in Australia - lives in the UK). He offers incredible insight into the Honduras coup, the US war with Pakistan, and the health care system in the UK.

It's hard to find this kind of insight here in the US.

I've listened to Democracy Now a few times. It sounds like Rush except from the Left. I don't find unbalanced radio to be helpful. At least the big NPR programs attempt balance.

Right, but you have to understand that for WAMU the spectrum of legitimate political discourse runs from extremist rightwing nutjobs like Bill Kristol or the guy who runs the Washington Times editorial page on the right, all the way to David Corn on the left.

Amy Goodman has no place here. She's beyond the pale.

I would disagree with you both. I believe Democracy Now simply reports on news that isn't being covered by the corporate media. I don't consider NPR to be left wing, or right wing. Listen to all the multinational corporations who support them. I believe that causes their news to be significantly filtered.

If you go to a news site like http://reddit.com where people submit news for all over the glob, then you will see some actual left wing news, or news that just isn't corporately filtered.

The very best sources for news in my opinion in print are :

http://rawstory.com

http://www.guardian.co.uk

http://www.telegraph.co.uk

These news outlets are not filtered by the US corporate machine. I personally consider myself to be very conservative. I am Secretary of my local Republican Precinct. It is rather unfortunate to see Republicans who only want to encounter news that re-enforces what they would like to believe.

I consider most Republicans and Democrats within the US to be putting on an act. They act like they are on different teams like the WWF, but they are both paid off by the same lobbyists. There is more than just the left and right illusion the US corporate media presents to people.

I respect Amy Goodman for bringing out information that the corporate controlled media won't touch whether they are pretending to be liberal or conservative. Would the so called liberal media slam Obama for waging war against Pakistan, Afghanistan, continuing the war in Iraq which he claimed he would end, and continuing Bush's state secrets policy?
