Is the US press censored if yes by who and why

In a thread on Iran someone made a case for the US press being censored which I being a loyal American find hard to believe but the prima facie case was strong. So with the diversoe ownership/political bias and all is the press censored in the US, why and how.

Still, there was documentary on the run-up to the Iraq war, I believe it was on Bill Moyers, and journalists from Knight Ridder were discussing their experience of editorial muzzling. This is to the best of my recollection (which may be faulty.) If you find it, it may give you a sense of some incidents of news manipulation.....but tell me, if you care to, what does it mean to you to be a loyal American?
