The Conversation

Hello??? In the words of pink floyd, "Is there anybody out there?"

This is truly the most non-active forum I've belonged to; what can we do to liven up the pace around here? I know we are public-radio listeners, but jeez, I would think public radio listeners would have some strong opinions/threads/conversations, etc...

Where y'all at??

Well...nice to meet ya John. I see that you are very active on the boards; why do you think "The Conversation" is not attracting a large following?

really? it's the weather? don't know about that...

I think it may have something to do with "The Conversation" having an identity crisis...is it a message board or a social networking group?

If it's primary purpose is to drive conversation and debate, then it should just be a message board (without the profile page, apps, etc). Most message boards I'm an active member use some version of vbulletin, and that format is much easier to navigate and respond/reply to people.

However, if it's meant to be a "social utility" or the "Facebook of WAMU," (where listeners can connect with each other..lol) then they should get rid of the forums all together! They should just have a random twitter-like feed on the main page that people can respond to (which would then link to various people's profiles).

For me, there's a little too much to navigate (and I'm only 26--a prime member of the Facebook generation), but I'll look on the positive side, and try to help get discussion going.

c'est la vie

t3nnisgal, thanks for your interest in The Conversation. I think you'll find there are many members here who are interested in discussing the news of the day -- all it takes is starting a thoughtful topic.

Note the current Home Page... Sometimes this forum gets a bunch of diverse and interesting discussions going and then it gets covered up with a bunch less so. Then it goes kinda quiet for awhile. I think the front page is what people see and it starts the the conversations here.

Yeah, I'm still here...maybe I'm just used to multiple threads/responses everyday...i guess "lifeless" is a subjective term...;)

I do agree with c'est la vie. Set up is awkward, would be nice to be alerted to any comment posted to keep an active conversation and easier chat type thing going.
What to discuss?
Why is it that the U.S. is trying to sell this Global Warming business that has been proven to be a farse?? Is this our governments main strategy as he is spending tons of money travelling around the world trying to sell this? and if it's true that it is a farse, why isn't the media talking about it on the news?? Are they also being controlled or paid off?
