The Conversation

Our dear Charlotte is causing sleep depravation. It's mainly our fault, we keep the bedroom door closed in an attempt to have a little less cat hair around. We have used painters tape at the door to keep her away, its not really helping. We got a bell collar, keep a light on, kept a light off, got the pheromones you plug into the wall socket, that got messy, our vet has suggested melotonin, we tried it and it we thought it helped, its not or never did work.
So any ideas other than opening the bedroom door? I just won't wake up covered in cat again, been there done that.
Thanks
Bruce

If space permits, shut the cat in a night-time space of her own, where she can have food, water, litter box, toys, and a nice snuggly bed in a warm spot. Adjust the cat's feeding time so that she's hungry at your bedtime, feed her in that place, and close the door til morning. Ignore piteous mews, they really will trail off. GIve the cat some quality attention before bedtime. This system has been used successfully by friends of mine for years, and it seems to work well for all concerned. You've probably already been advised to consider a companion cat, which Id also recommend if at all possible. The kitty[room system works even better with two, but it's doable with one.

Why do you not want the cat with you? I do not understand. I have cats that try to sleep with me, but when I move around, they leave. Get a companion for Charlotte. If you work days and do not want her around nights, she needs a friend.
